announcement

Chicago Hearing Society (CHS), a division of the Lester & Rosalie Anixter Center, is proud to be the first agency in the Chicago area to both employ and provide the assistance of a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) to the Deaf community.

A success Team Building Day for Teens

A wonderful partnership with Chicago Club of the Deaf (CCD) made it possible for the Youth Program to host Team Building Day on May 1st for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Teens.  The event was held at Hinsdale South High School with 28 teens.

Today, the lives of teens are glued to electrical outlets such as computers, video games, and pagers. The social and physical interactions have changed.

The purpose of team building is to promote face-to face interaction amongst teens and foster  opportunities to develop and recognize their skills as well as their peers. Teamwork is a cooperative effort by members of a team to achieve a common goal.

Chicago Hearing Society’s mission is to empower deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people to communicate with each other, thereby lessening the isolation which separates them.

Emergency services are available for the deaf and hard of hearing community. Click here for more information.

Chicago Hearing Society is a division of Anixter Center, a Chicago-based nonprofit corporation,
which provides quality services for people with disabilities.
