Position: Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor for Deaf (American Sign Language proficiency required)
Where: 2001 N. Clybourn Avenue, Chicago — Addiction Recovery of the Deaf (ARD) Program.
Description: Anixter Center, a nationally recognized social service organization, has several career opportunities for a Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor for Deaf in the ARD outpatient program.

 Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

AO (Alternative Opportunities) , the parent company of Lakes Country Resource Center is seeking several support staff for their residential program in St. Louis.

SUPPORT STAFF: Support Staff work in the homes and communities of people needing supports. S/he will serve as a mentor supporting people to learn and
practice skills needed to live in their own home and community.
Work with assigned DHH individuals with their weekly schedule
Teach persons served independent living skills which could include community integration, personal hygiene, health care practices, wellness issues, socialization, recreation, money management, household skills, shopping and other needed skills to be independent
Support persons served in developing meaningful relationships/ connections in the community
Support persons served in making responsible choices
Notify the Team Leader/Coordinator if the person served has a problem or is not meeting their goals
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
High school diploma required and preferred experience working with people with hearing losses and developmental disabilities
Must have and maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Medication Administration, and Peaceful Intervention (AO can provide this training if you don't already have these certifications)
Valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance is required
Occasional standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, handle, and reach with hands and arms, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Pass background check including criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect
Three positive references, at least 2 from previous employers
Good communication skills
Respectful attitude toward persons with hearing losses
Ability to work with a team of people toward goals
Ability to write reports and document data
Possess the skills the person he/she is chosen to support needs to learn
Reliable vehicle
Pay dependent upon education and experience.
